Good Week January 20, 2019 Letter

Hey everyone I had a killer week here in the sweaty Philippines. Getting a little sick of no toilet paper and eating rice for breakfast lunch and dinner.

So this week I finally received my Christmas Package so I was crazy happy about that, all my fav snacks and treats were in it. It had the 12 days of Christmas inside but since Christmas is already over, I opened all of them at once. My comp Elder Provido got the same presents so that was awesome, we were both so astonished by the things we got. Best Christmas ever so far on the mish. Haha, All the letter from the family made me cry like a baby 'cause I love them so much. No lie there. 

The rest of the week was super fun, we taught tons of lessons, went on exchanges and that was really fun. It's almost more fun to walk around with another American and fully embrace the stares and push ourselves to speak their language so they can understand us. I've been super impressed with my Tagalog, as I've learned so much from the MTC. 

We taught a Seventh Day Adventist, and that was interesting, he had been visiting his family in Maryland who are members of the church, and went to church with them a couple times when he was visiting them, he can't really speak english so he had tons of questions for us when we contacted him. Super nice guy and really respected the missionaries decision to serve, he just thinks the sabbath day is on Saturday. 

Met a Muslim Filipino this week which was the first one we've met, and we were't allowed to shake her hands. Didn't know that was a thing? 

Got wrecked by some ants and cockroaches again, the ants here have noses like dogs and can find their way into anything. Super annoying. They got all over our bread and i kept it around and, turns out my District leader ate a bunch of it when he was staying at my house during exchanges. Oops! Didn't tell him hahaha. 

Had like 5 of our new people attend church today so that was super awesome!! It's really hard for people to come to church, because there are so many different churches here, and so many faiths. I see a new church every day it feels like. 

I love all the kids here, they're so fun to talk with and make laugh. They are always playing outside and have fun doing the simplest things. Filipino life is super fun and full of love. I really do see why they are the happiest people. Even in Canada, they're such happy people.

Hey everyone! This was a solid week for me and Elder Fillo! We started this week out doing exchanges with our district leader and it was a great day. We had a fun time biking to the far areas and meeting some interesting people. One girl we met had a bunch of "text mates" we watched her facetime them and their all in Pakistan and India hahah one guy was like 50 and driving some weird bike in India and she was talking to him for some reason. None of my business I guess. We taught her the restoration and she found it interesting that we would come so far to just share a message with no salary./ hahah I understood why she thought it was weird. Then Wednesday we had some more exchanges with my guy Elder McAllister. His personality reminds me of Carson. A really good guy. New Area!

Hey everyone! So I got transferred out of Baguio finally :( Super sad to leave that area because I was there for almost 6 months. But I expected to be transferred. So now I went down to the lowlands. To Bauang which is the next zone over from my first zone in Agoo. Just north of it.  But before I left I had the chance of watching Anthony Fajardo get baptized. We had met Anthony on the street in July and he had a bunch of questions about God and Heavenly Father and after teaching him for 1 month, he came to church and accepted to be baptized. And the Sunday before I left he got baptized. It was one of the best days on my mission. Watching Anthony get up to bear his testimony that He knows that Jesus Christ lives and that God has restored his church through a prophet was the best thing in the world. No time, no pics

Got like no time to talk about this week, but it was solid. Went on Exchanges, on Wednesday with Elder Cluff from Utah. It was something, just two white guys that don't know Tagalog trying to talk to people. It tested me so that was good. I really need to prepare myself for when I have to lead an area.  One time this week we were teaching this fam and the fam has tons of kids and in the middle of our lesson, all the kids got naked and were bathing with a bucket and scoop beside the pump. There was probs like 15 kids running around naked. SO it was pretty distracting. Hahaha made me think "where the heck am I right now", anyways Christmas time here is crazy, theres this huge Fiesta in Sison and it felt like a Filipino stampede haha. It was sweet though they have rides and food and tons of things to buy.
