Merry Christmas - Dec 22

Image
Hey everyone, so just a quick a little thought. Last week sucked honestly haha, But this week was super good and I really found joy in the celebration in the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is the source of all joy, and I'm so grateful for the knowledge of coming to know Him and telling people about Him everyday.  We had the Light the World special sacrament this week and saw some miracles, amazing to have people come back to church after year and feel that love. The sense of friendship from the other members. It helps me know that the Lord really is with us. I'm trying to live in the present more, because sometimes we think that when we finally achieve something or get passed a trial, we will be happy. Then the next challenge or problem comes up and we think we'll be happy after that. But it's better to be living in the present and enjoying everything that comes up in life. We went hiking this morning, got up at 3:45 and hiked in the ...

Pre Pasko - Dec 15

Hey everyone this week was honestly a little hard. It's ironic how when it comes to Christmas, people often forget the main reason we celebrate it. They are busy at birthday parties, weddings, baptisms and other events. It is great for them to be with their family but we feel like we are forgotten when it comes to our message about Jesus Christ. The Christmas story about Jesus Christ is turning into a "nice thought" but is often forgotten at the most important time of year. Haha I felt this way last year. But last year I remember everything sucked. I was brand new in the mission, had no clue about anything, how to be a missionary. I had no water in my apartment. I left my family to be in some weird country doing the weirdest job everyday. Talking to random people about Jesus Christ and why he was important. That was the time I really had to rely on Him and His plan for me in the Philippines, and I am so glad I did. I have learned so much about myself, my weaknesses, my ...

Beach Vibes - Dec 8

Hey everyone! Just a little update. Congrats to Parks, the first bud home. Time will just fly and all of us will be back. ....  SO we had a little MLC this week, our mission president is super sick. His counsel is super good and I feel the spirit so strongly when he testifies. A little hard to explain, but it feels really good.  I've noticed a big change in the missionaries since he has arrived. Everyone is feeling better about the work, feeling the love from each other and it has blessed the mission overall. He has taught us to love each other, and to love the people around us.  Super important this time of year we get to celebrate the birth of our Saviour. President spoke in sacrament in our branch and told the story in Luke 2 of the shepherds that were watching the flock in the field then suddenly an Angel appeared to them and said in verse 10, "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is bor...

Borge - Nov 25, 2019

Borge is the name of our investigator that we first met when we got into Bauang. He is progressing a lot now, and received an answer to his question this week. It has been such an amazing blessing to see him grow. We went over Alma chapter 5 and talked about how we need to be spiritually born of God in this life. We talked about the time when we first met Borge, he was searching for a different church to join. And now he thinks he has found the truth. I think about myself too, because the scriptures apply to all of us, and I am always asking myself if I have been born of God. Because one thing I have learned here is that our faith we have won't save us, but it is the constant effort to be converted, to change, to grow, to be better than we were yesterday. I love the saying "2 steps forward 1 step back" because even when we make mistakes again, as long as we are trying, and working on ways to improve ourselves. Bauang has been good though, we've met lots of gr...

Hello everyone, didn't have the chance to email last week. Things have been good in the area, besides the heat. The members are great, welcoming. My comp and I are getting tight, he's a great guy.  We have been working with some family that has been taught, had an amazing spiritual experience  with them talking about how God answers prayers. Junior feels scared because every time he prays to ask if the message is true, he says he kinda receives this dark power overcome him and eventually stops his prayer. He doesn't know why. But as we explained the power of the adversary he understood. We hope they can receive and answer that these things are true.  Elder Wokolo came and spoke to us this week, he was super powerful and I am so much more grateful for the Book of Mormon. It is super powerful.  Christmas is soon, time goes so fast. Almost been in the country for a year... Love you all:) Elder Garry
